Body found in search for girl missing in NSW

A body has been found in bushland after a girl's disappearance sparked a wide-scale search.

A body has been found in the search for a six-year-old girl missing from southern NSW.

She disappeared from the North Nowra area, near Shoalhaven, this afternoon, sparking inquiries from police and a wide-scale search.

A body was found in bushland in the area about 6pm.

"While it is yet to be formally identified, it is believed to be that of the missing girl," police said.

Police inquiries have begun and a report will be prepared for the coroner.

Police said there were no suspicious circumstances.
