CCTV footage has captured the impact of a high-speed crash in Melbourne's north that left a driver fighting for life and three other people in hospital.
The smash unfolded when an allegedly stolen Black Kia travelling south on Gilbert Road in Preston collided with a white Kia sedan about 11.30pm, according to police.
The impact of the crash pushed the white Kia off the road, where it smashed into the brick fence of a townhouse and wrapped around a pole.

The two 23-year-old women inside were forced to crawl out of a window to escape the mangled vehicle.
The black Kia then struck a concrete barrier in the middle of the road and flipped on its side, careering into a Toyota Yaris that was waiting at the lights near Regent Street.
The driver of the Yaris, a 27-year-old Pascoe Vale South man, sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.
The black hatchback continued on three wheels before it left the road and stopped at a nearby park.
The 25-year-old driver of the black Kia was rushed to Royal Melbourne Hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he remains in a critical condition under police guard.
The driver of the white Kia, a 23-year-old Ivanhoe woman, and her 23-year-old female passenger were taken to hospital with minor injuries and have since been discharged.
Police are investigating whether drugs, alcohol and of course speed contributed to the crash.
