Avicii's "Levels" Named Official Anthem of 2025 Ice Hockey World Championship

Honoring the late EDM icon, the tournament in Avicii's hometown of Stockholm bridges national pride and global legacy with a song that defined a generation.

Avicii's generational dance hit "Levels" has been named the official anthem of the 2025 Ice Hockey World Championship.

The tournament is organized annually by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) and is considered the sport’s most prestigious tournament after the Olympics.

"Avicii is not just one of our time’s greatest music creators, he is also a unique and acclaimed symbol for Sweden," IIHF CEO Tony Wiréhn said in a press release. "His music has a power and pulse that goes straight into the heart."

16 national teams will compete this year, including the defending champions, Czechia, and the host nation, Sweden, which received the bronze medal in the 2024. The tournament is scheduled to begin May 9th in Herning, Denmark before wrapping May 25th with the final in Stockholm.

The venue adds further significance to the announcement. Originally known as the Stockholm Globe Arena from 1989 to 2009 and Ericsson Globe until 2021, it was ultimately renamed Avicii Arena to honor the DJ's legacy and promote mental health awareness through the Tim Bergling Foundation, a nonprofit established by his family after his tragic death by suicide in 2018.

Further details on how "Levels" will be used during the tournament have not yet been disclosed, but the selection highlights Avicii's lasting impact while uniting fans of Sweden's national sport through one of its most iconic musical voices.
